The mini-Marathon...a success!

As they sing in Oklahoma, "Oh, what a beautiful mor-nin'! Oh, what a beautiful day!" God was so kind to have given us such delightful weather and such favor and blessing upon the activities of the morning! To Him be the glory!

Here are some nice photos of the day (thanks, Lynda!):

Our Katie, or Ladybug, the mini-Marathon creator, organizer and administrator did a fine job with the entire event. With very little help (and that was mere delegation!) she created the theme, logo, and registration forms, ordered t-shirts, solicited and purchased awards, door prizes and food, mapped out a 2.62 mile course, sent helpful reminders and tips to her registrants, organized course monitors and facilitated the race! WHEW! Why did she do it? It was part of "the challenge." Our friends, the Berrys, introduced us to "the challenge," which is presented to our daughters on each's 12th birthday. She was asked to complete tasks for the purpose of growing in the following areas: sprititual disciplines, physically and creatively strong, and in life skills, service to others and relationships. Jane Ellen, the Elf, also participated in a challenge when she turned 12...and Lord willing, so will the Pooch and EX. As for Katie, one task was to plan and execute a "fun run." And she did a bang-up job! I think she'll now officially be allowed to turn 13!

Thank you to all of our friends and family who particpated...and especially those who pitched in to help out! You made it very special for our Katie!
